As we near the end of the year, the SRV Board of Directors has taken a long hard look at the future of Spokane Rocket Velo. As the years have passed, our membership has dwindled, the number of SRV riders showing up to local races is almost non-existent, we haven’t been able to schedule a formal weekend group ride yet this year, and though we are very proud to put on the hardest, the best, and most outlandish one-day race this side of the Rockies, we’re doing that with almost no support from our members and fellow riders.
While we’ve come to no definitive conclusion—that’s what the meeting noted below is for—the board is of the opinion that SRV cannot continue in the same format next year as it has in the past (if it even continues at all).
Please join the SRV board at Alan Jacob’s house (4214 N Monroe) at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, November 4, 2014 for a very open and frank discussion about the future of SRV. Options for the future include:
- Dissolving SRV entirely,
- Joining forces with another local bicycling club, or
- Allowing other current, active members to “take the reins”
While this meeting is open to the public, only current members will be able to vote. Feel free to invite fellow riders or interested persons. If you are not able to make it to the meeting, please contact Alan Jacob before the meeting to share your opinion and have it presented at the meeting in your absence.
